Combivir
Description
Combivir (generic name: Lamivudine/Zidovudine) is used for treating HIV infection in combination with other medicines.
Combivir is an antiviral combination. Both of these medicines are nucleoside analogues that work together to slow the growth of HIV by blocking an enzyme needed by the virus to reproduce.
Lamivudine and zidovudine are antiviral medications. They are in a group of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) medicines called reverse transcriptase inhibitors. This medication helps keep the HIV virus from reproducing in the body.
The combination of lamivudine and zidovudine is used to treat HIV, which causes the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). This medication is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.
Recommendations
Take Combivir by mouth with or without food.
Continue to use Combivir even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
Taking Combivir at the same time each day will help you remember to take it.
